A comprehensive index to the extant birth records for children born in Delaware County before 1800. Each entry lists the family name, the name of the infant, the date of birth or baptism, the names of both parents and the source where the information was found. If the mother’s maiden surname is given in the church record that information is also included. Records used for this compilation were found in four Quaker Monthly Meeting and two Protestant Episcopal Church registers. The four Quaker records are among the oldest registers for Friend’s Meetings in Pennsylvania and they include information on many early Quaker immigrant families. Combined, these registers total more than 4,500 recorded births.
