Blount County, Tennessee Will Book 1, 1799-1858

$35.00

The WPA Records are, for the most part, carbon copies of the original records, typed on onion skin paper during the Depression. Since these records were typed on poor machines by people who did not type well either and read by persons not always sure of the older handwritten material, the results are often less than perfect.

We have made every attempt to make as good a copy as can be made from these older papers. Sometimes there are water stains and burned edges around the papers. This is the result of a fire at the home of one of the workers, Mrs. Penelope Allen, who supervised most of the project.

The WPA Records are now very scattered between the State Archives, various Public and Private Libraries and other collections. Some day, there is a hope that all of these can be collected and stored in one place. In spite of their many mistakes and problems, these are still the most complete collection of Tennessee records found anywhere.

An index to full-names and places adds to the value of this work.
