Soldiers of the American Revolution Who at One Time Were Residents of, or Whose Graves Are Located in Chautauqua County, New York - Chautauqua County, N. Y., Chapters, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. “The Soldiers of the American Revolution remain in a distinct class of the world’s history–with only the poorest and most meager equipment, they…responded to the first call of Lexington and Bunker Hill, facing every danger with unsurpassed courage, willingly sacrificing every personal comfort, suffering and enduring beyond description…that freedom and liberty might be their country’s right for all time.” In order to pay tribute to these soldiers, the women of the New York Chapters of the DAR have painstakingly researched both military and personal records such as official pension papers, family records, local history, and early local newspapers. This volume provides a list of all the soldiers by DAR chapter, then, in the following chapters, provides a detailed accounting of each soldier. Also provided is the location by township and cemetery of each soldier’s grave. An appendix provides additional names of those soldiers about whom little is known from the records. In addition, a fullname index provides easy access to information.
