CD: Annals of Portsmouth [New Hampshire], Comprising a Period of Two Hundred Years from the First Settlement of the Town; with Biographical Sketches of a few of the Most Respectable Inhabitants - Nathaniel Adams. Portsmouth, New Hampshire, was one of the first four towns established in the state. Its beginnings are generally dated to 1623, when David Thompson set up a trading post at Odiorne's Point. This history is presented in chronological order to 1823, and is filled with interesting historical and biographical data. A short appendix reproduces several early documents. The author graduated from Dartmouth College in 1775 and served as Clerk of the Superior Court of New Hampshire for forty-two years. New full name + subject index.
